Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchmen waketh but in vain. Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward. As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth. Psalm 127:1,3,4
I’m glad to see that you all made it through Christmas and New Years! 2019 has begun in a flash! Maybe at the beginning of 2019, you evaluated some areas some areas of your life.
You may have assessed your health, your financial habits, your retirement plan, or even your own spiritual growth. Did you stop and examine the spiritual health of your family? Your children? Where were they spiritually this time last year? Are they becoming more knowledgeable of the Gospel, closer to Salvation? If they are saved, are they growing spiritually? God plainly lays out in Scripture that discipleship begins at home; no exceptions. Chuck Swindoll said, “Whatever else may be said about the home, it is the single most influential force in our earthly existence. No price tag can adequately
reflect its value, no gauge can measure its ultimate influence, for good or ill.” Fairview believes this and concedes with the authoritative Scripture mentioned above from Psalm 127.
I’d be the first to tell you that having a Christian home is challenging, but from the testimony of those before me and for
the sake of generations for come, I know it worth it!
For this reason, we are showing the movie, Like Arrows, here at Fairview (Sunday, February 10th at 6:00 pm). This movie is literally for everyone; no matter your stage of parenthood.
The Bible study to follow in March, The Art of Parenting, on which the movie is based, will focus on the core issues that every parent and child need to address together. I’ll speak on this further in our March newsletter.
Please make plans to participate!!
Don’t forget to continue 2019 faithfully by bringing your children to the classes designed for them (Sunday School, Mission Friends, GA’s, RA’s, Acteens, Challengers, Youth Group, ER). Your attendance will strengthen your heart as you fellowship with believers growing and working alongside you.
I close with this parenting statement from Tim Kimmel (Art of Parenting), “If you start our your job (as a parent) knowing how long your kid’s gonna live, everything changes. I happen to know how long very kid lives. They live forever.
